Thinking like a marketer

Today I spent some time writing a press release to promote the cookbook for Father’s Day.  It suddenly struck  me, what better gift for Dad that a cookbook created with men in mind, full of his favourite recipes which can only make him happy once he tries them.  I figured I need to get the press release complete probably three weeks before the actual day so newspapers can pick it up and include it in those lists you see year after year of gift ideas for the hopelessly rushed or unimaginative.  In either case, I thought hey my cookbook is the perfect idea!  So I was pleased with my efforts and had someone from the marketing department at work proofread it and make a few suggestions to improve it.  Now I just have to get it loaded to the press release distribution service again; I am thinking of sending it out June 3.

And then I headed home after a relatively easy day of work.  I love our new home being so close to work.  I had time to stop and stroll the aisles of the grocery store, run a few errands, come home, prepare lunches for tomorrow, do the ironing for the week and still it was only six pm.  I have so much more life now that I am not stuck commuting forever, waiting on buses and subways and unexpected delays.  I just got in from a quick 12 km ride on my bike to “stretch my legs”.  Oh how times have changed!  I swear there was a time when I would never have uttered such a thing and now here I am thinking anything under 15 km is just a stretch!  Showered and relaxing before heading off to bed.  Another pretty great day!
